What Is a Strapping Machine?

A strapping machine is a packaging system designed to wrap and secure a strap around a product or package. The strap helps hold products together and provides additional stability during handling, storage, and transportation.

Strapping machines can be operated manually, semi-automatically, or fully automatically. The appropriate machine depends on factors such as package size, product weight, production volume, strap material, and required packaging speed.

How Does a Strapping Machine Work?

Although different models have different operating systems, the basic strapping process is generally similar.

1. Positioning the Package

The product or package is placed in the correct position on the machine or conveyor.

2. Feeding the Strap

The machine feeds the strap around or underneath the package, depending on the machine design.

3. Tensioning the Strap

The strap is pulled tightly around the package. The required tension can usually be adjusted according to the product and packaging requirements.

4. Sealing the Strap

After the desired tension is achieved, the machine seals or welds the strap to create a secure connection.

5. Cutting the Strap

The machine cuts the excess strap and completes the strapping cycle.

The finished package is then ready for handling, storage, or transportation.
